Small Catrina Ceramic

These marvellous Catrina ceramic statues are a really special set of items. Rarely seen outside of Mexico, mainly because of the incredibly fragile and detailed nature of the work, each one of these Catrina skeleton ceramics is a wonderfully elaborate piece of art in miniature. Each of these little Catrinas wears a different outfit and carries a different accessory. Made with the upmost of care and attention to detail in a small family workshop on the outskirts of Texcoco, the figures show the famous Catrina skeleton. Originally made by artist Jose Posada, 'La Calavera Catrina' has become a very popular image in Mexico and is closely associated with the Day of The Dead festival. Diego Rivera has also had a lasting influence on the popularity of the image after he included her in many of his vast murals. This is a very rare opportunity to buy a truly exceptional item of Mexican folk art.
