About this product

These marvellous Catrina ceramic statues are a really special set of items. Rarely seen outside of Mexico, mainly because of the fragile and detailed nature of the work, each one of these large Catrina skeleton ceramics is a wonderfully elaborate piece of art. This particular Catrina's dress is adorned with a mixture of colourful flowers, and floral patterns. The skeletal fingers and the attention to detail around the skull and jewellery is also of note. Made with the upmost of care and attention to detail in a small family workshop on the outskirts of Texcoco, the figures show the famous Catrina skeleton. Originally made by artist Jose Posada, 'La Calavera Catrina' has become a very popular image in Mexico and is closely associated with the Day of The Dead festival. Diego Rivera has also had a lasting influence on the popularity of the image after he included her in many of his vast murals. This is a very rare opportunity to buy a truly exceptional item of Mexican folk art.

Specifications: 33cm high. Unique item. There is only one of these available.
