About this product

Stunning Catrina ceramic statues that are rarely seen outside of Mexico. Due to the fragile and detailed nature of the work, each one of these Catrina skeleton ceramics is a wonderfully elaborate and detailed piece of art. Hand painted in a stunning array of vibrant colours, this special set of Catrinas are adorned with flowers, with highly decorative detailing to their boats. Made with the upmost of care and attention to detail in a small family workshop on the outskirts of Texcoco, the figures show the famous Catrina skeleton. Originally made by artist Jose Posada, 'La Calavera Catrina' has become a very popular image in Mexico and is closely associated with the Day of The Dead festival. Diego Rivera has also had a lasting influence on the popularity of the image after he included her in many of his vast murals. This is a very rare opportunity to buy a truly exceptional item of Mexican folk art.
