Tibetan Style Tiger Wooden Chest No.465
About this product
This impressive chest features a hand painted tiger on the front panel, set against a backdrop of rich colours. The wooden chest has a hinged lid and ample interior space for storing blankets, clothes or keepsakes. Robust and eye catching, it makes a wonderful statement piece.
Tigers hold special significance in Himalayan art and are associated with strength, protection and the transformative power of nature. Depicting a tiger on a chest is thought to guard the contents and bring courage to the household. The colourful painting style is typical of Tibetan furniture.
Our wooden chests are made in small workshops in Nepal. Craftspeople construct the box from sustainable timber before hand painting the design with natural pigments. We source all of our furniture through Fair Trade suppliers, ensuring fair wages and safe working conditions.
