Artisan Cheppu Mask No.263
About this product
This bold coloured mask depicts a protective figure known by various names such as Chhepu, Cheppu or as a kind of Makara. Regarded as being brave and fearsome, Cheppu is one of three powerful brothers and is seen regularly in Nepalese architecture, guarding the way above doors, arches and gateways. Cheppu and his brothers are the enemies of the Nagas (snakes) and are usually depicted eating one. These pieces are sold individually. Please do not order more than one of each individually coded unit. The mask will show small signs of wear and tear, adding to their rustic uniqueness. Approx. 30cm × 25cm × 12cm
